New Project

Every January my local quilt shop, Morning Star, does a new quilt in the applique club. Usually I have started the quilt by now. This year, I'm way behind. I have only just started it. Part of the problem is I have been trying to finish those UFO's. And the big problem, is that I'm afraid of the pattern and all that color.

This is the pattern, done in Kaffe's fabrics. I still have not acquired a taste for these fabrics yet. My color choices are a lot more subtle. So I have been putting off the quilt until I could come up with a color scheme that suited me.

I think I have found it. I think I am going to go with an aged look. I am sure all of you are shocked. Me, Brandie, do a quilt in an old fashioned color scheme. What a surprise, right girls? So I'm going to try to do this quilt in just reds and greens. My spin will be using more than 1 color of each.

So I have already deviated from the 2 color scheme, by adding a brown woven basket. But the rest will be reds and greens.
I have all the leaves cut out, 64, and I have been thinking about those orange peel shapes. Those I don't know what I will do with. I even went into MS and looked at the Kaffe's. (I'm just as shocked as you.) If there was only a 2 color Kaffe fabric, maybe I could use it. They may start growing on me after all. Don't misunderstand me, I have seen some beautiful quilts using Kaffe's, I'm just color challenged, remember. I love the Joseph's coat that many of the Aussie girls are doing, some day I might also do one.
So with that......
Take care, Brandie
