Tedious Baskets

My first step with these baskets was to come up with a layout. So I laid them out on a board, but only half will fit. (Santa, I need a design wall or less books and we know this won't happen, so Santa, please just build me a new wall.)
I was really pleased with this layout of blocks, so I pinned them all down, just in case someone sneezed.
Then I cut into the other fabric to see how that looked and... I wasn't as pleased. So I thought up another solution.
That was buying a beautiful piece of muslin, because it looked alright on the board. But that wasn't good enough so... more thinking.
Next I cut some really tiny sashing and corner stones. The baskets are 3 3/4 squared. I didn't want a big sashing so I went with 3/4 of a inch. It all makes sense right?
So here they are. Tiny baskets with the first fabric, tiny red sashing, and little brown corner stones. Can you see them? They are really, really tiny. Like only a quarter inch if you do your math.
I did manage to sew two other rows, but I got really tired of putting in the sashing so that's why I only have these three rows to show you.
I know deep down in my heart that when I finish this quilt, I'll be very happy with it, so I will just have to pull up my big girl panties and finish it, tedious or not.

So have a wonderful weekend and whenever you think of baskets, send me good thought waves.
Take care, Brandie

I think this is fabulous. Have 1/4" sashing is beautiful on a quilt. I did it early in my quilting days and it's my fav part of the quilt.
Have a great weekend and as I water my baskets, I'll send you good vibes!

They may be tedious but they are gorgeous and the end result will be worth all the effort.

I think I could make a career out of piecing nothing but basket quilts, I've yet to meet one I didn't love. Your basket quilt is amazing and that touch of red sashing, inspired! Hang in there, this quilt is going to be a tresure!

Your quilt is looking good. I hope you can find the perfect red. I can't believe you are putting those little brown squares in too. Great job.
