A Productive Weekend

I was too impatient to wait for Lori to give out the next set of instructions, so I forged ahead on my own. This was such a fun sew along! It was an almost finish for January, almost.
Its all quilted, I just need to trim it up and put on the binding. Easy-peasy!
Remember that other UFO box I got into just to avoid those tiny trees? Well I finish one of those blocks too.
I am using my cat weight to keep the block from running off. Sometimes, that cat just won't leave me alone! I think he thinks I quilt for him.
Anyhow, this block is block three of "Party in the Garden" by fellow blogger Lynn (sew'n wild oaks).
I started this quilt two, three years ago and forgot about it. Not sure why I just stopped but its time to finish it up !
And finally I got one ring on one block of my hexie stars.
I had my box packed for a visit with my SIL. She is still in a care home but it looks as if she might be on the road to recovery. She has had so many set backs! She still doesn't speak but she can read and write, which is great!
Yesterday was her birthday so we all piled into the car and spent the day with her. She was in a great mood and very responsive. She even ate part of an In and Out burger and half her fries! That was wonderful because she has gone a long time without solid food. We all have our fingers crossed that this means she's improving.

Have a Wonderful Monday! I'm planning to!
Take care, Brandie

I'm glad to hear your SIL is improving. It's hard when it takes a long time to see even small steps. Looks like you have a diligent helper! That's such a pretty block too. I haven't seen it before. Perhaps he's just interested in the birdie.

Wow and Dorian is doing a great job as a quilt weight too ;0) Wonderful news about DSIL! Very encouraging. Love your MidWinter Blues, beautifully pieced and quilted!

I really love everything about your MidWinter Blues quilt, especially your choice of a 4-patch in the center, plus one cheddar/gold fabric. I had to go back and look at Lori's because I didn't remember her brown triangles creating such a neat secondary design. Your cheddar triangles create 4 on-point squares in my mind's eye. Cool!
I ended up on your blog this morning while doing some blog hopping. So glad I did.

I like your choice of fabrics for your blue quilt.
Oh, your birdhouse block is so sweet.
I am going to work on my circle around my star in a bit.
