Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt

First off, I want to Thank all of you for your prayers and concern. My family and I Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My sister-in-law has been fighting for 46 days to come back to us. 46 very long days.
She has had daily scans, numerous meds and 4 brain surgeries to date. She spent over two weeks in an induced coma. If she had a good couple of hours, it was followed by steps backward for the rest of the week.
It has been heartbreaking to see her in her condition and heartbreaking to not be able to help in any way.
Fortunately, this last weekend she has been the best yet. She has her eyes open and follows you around the room. She has even been able to mouth a few words, like her middle name and the names of her daughters!

She has a long road to recovery but with all the support she has behind her, she can do it!

This hasn't been an easy year for me. Back in February I thought the scariest thing in my life was my brother's surgery. And that seemed a breeze compared to this
There is good news about my brother, he had his surgery to put his digestive system back together last week and he's doing great.
He's back at home and looking to move to California to be closer to me, in the near future.

Life has a way of going along with or without our influence. I may have checked out for awhile but I'm trying to get back on the horse. Baby steps.
Those baby steps seem like giant steps some days. Some days those steps can be taken two at a time, but I'm coming back.
Thank you friends for the encouragement and love. Also to Hubby, who has been bored with my last post. A gentle nudge and I'll get there.

Lots of Thankfulness,

I didn't get bored with your last post. It was my daily reminder to pray for your SIL. I know she has a long way to go but am glad she is improving. I will continue to pray for her.

I'm happy to hear in the long haul she has made some forward progress! That must be so scary and emotional!!
I'm also happy to hear your brother is doing well. I think it would be a good move if he was nearer to you.

Somehow I missed your last post so had no idea of your situation but I had been thinking about you just today. My son suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury 3 1/2 years ago (symptoms are much like stroke) and he was in a coma for 2 1/2 weeks. We were blessed with a miracle recovery but it took almost a year of hard work in rehabilitation. Those first few weeks and months were so difficult, wondering if he would live, ever wake up, talk etc so I can understand what you are going through. In an instant our lives totally changed so I read this post with tears in my eyes. I just want to give you a hug but please know that I am praying for you and your family and want you to know that a great recovery is possible!

Brandie , I am so glad that things are getting a little better! You have been on my mind and I just couldn't imagine what you were going through. I am here anytime and if you need anything holler down the hill for me!

So pleased to hear she is taking steps in the right direction, what an ordeal. I found the repetition of piecing kept my sanity. I have a box full of 1/4 sq brn/pink triangles, probably close to a 1000. Yup, it was all I could do, start with a 5" square and stitch a straight line. Take time for yourself, being a caregiver is very hard on people. Big hugs to you and your family
